HUGE CATFISH! Last weekend we, Team FISH-ON Catfish Guide Services, made a trip down to Southwestern Ohio to fish for huge catfish with Game and Gear Adventures. The lake we fished was Caesar Creek Lake, located outside Dayton, Ohio. It was an unfamiliar area but we were able to end the weekend with familiar results. Heath Painter, host of Game and Gear Adventures, and his family hosted us for the weekend and we had a great time not only fishing but also spending time with them.
Friday night was the first night of the trip and turned out very successful. Even though we didn’t settled into our fishing spot until about midnight, it didn’t take long until the fish were biting. Heath was able to pull in about a 15 shovelhead catfish to begin the night and then by the end of the night we had a 5 fish stringer that weighed about 60 pounds.
On Saturday everyone was very anxious to go back to the same spot that we had success at the night before. Just like before every fishing trip, the day was busy with catching bait and getting all of our supplies ready for the night. It was a very slow night at first and we didn’t see any action until about 12:30 am. Within the next ten minutes we had two shovelheads in the boat, with the largest one tipping the scale at 35 pounds, which was brought in by Heath’s wife Jamie Painter. The rest of the night was mainly filled with fishing and hunting stories and one more ten pound shovelhead.
Overall, it was a great weekend and we would like to thank Game and Gear Adventures for hosting us for another great fishing trip. We look forward to working more in the future with Heath Painter and Game and Gear Adventures and wish them the best of luck.
